Regular Season Round 31: HyPo - BC Nokia 83-65

Bottom-ranked HyPo managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of seven consecutive loses. This time newly promoted HyPo won against tenth-ranked BC Nokia in Hyvinkaa 83-65. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 18-point difference proves that HyPo was well-prepared to that game. They made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. HyPo forced 24 BC Nokia turnovers and outrebounded them 44-22 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Kathlyn Varno (185-88, college: Wofford) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds. U.S. Virgin Islands-American swingman Natalie Day (182-90, college: Portland) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Alberta Auguste (180-85, college: Tennessee) answered with 19 points and 4 steals and center Anniina Aijanen (189-95) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for BC Nokia. BC Nokia's coach Antti Hyvarinen rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted HyPo maintains eleventh place with 3-22 record. BC Nokia lost their third game in a row. BC Nokia at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth position with 22 games lost. HyPo will play against higher ranked Kerava Energia Team (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BC Nokia will play against Aanekosken in Aanekoski and hopes to get back on the winning track.
