There was no surprise when 11th ranked Wschowa (2-16) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Tychy (11-7) 73-69 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-16. But Wschowa won second period 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Wschowa 35-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Lukasz Bodych (202-90, agency: Promotex) who scored 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Tomasz Bzdyra (196-83) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Tychy's coach Tomasz Jagielka used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. point guard Jedrzej Jankowiak (183-83, agency: Promotex) produced 17 points and forward Adam Chodkiewicz (200-90) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tychy moved-up to fifth place in Group B. Wschowa at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Tychy will face league's second-placed WKK Wroclaw at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Wschowa will play against GTK Gliwice (#4).
