Regular Season Round 18: Oviedo - Real C.Vigo 51-62

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Real Celta Vigo (7-10) won against on the road 6th ranked Oviedo (8-9) 62-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Real Celta Vigo. Oviedo was better in second period 7-5. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Oviedo to just 7 points in second quarter. Real Celta Vigo forced 19 Oviedo turnovers. It was a good game for guard Noelia Oliva (175-88) who led her team to a victory with 16 points. Senegalese forward Sabelle Diata (186, college: Northeastern JC) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Ana Diez Casado (-86) replied with 12 points and 5 rebounds and Lara Fernandez (-87) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Oviedo. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Real Celta Vigo moved-up to seventh place in Group A. Loser Oviedo keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Real Celta Vigo will face ADBA (#8) in Aviles in the next round.
