There was a small surprise when seventh ranked SKP Banska Bystrica (12-16) beat at home 4th ranked Nova Ves (15-14) 84-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by SKP Banska Bystrica. Nova Ves was better in second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Croatian guard Sven Smajlagic (193-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American point guard Enique Clemons (180-80, college: Missouri) contributed with 14 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four SKP Banska Bystrica players scored in double figures. SKP Banska Bystrica's coach Ivan Kurilla used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian power forward Aco Mandic (204-84) replied with 18 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Maurice Acker (178-87, college: Marquette) added 19 points in the effort for Nova Ves. SKP Banska Bystrica moved-up to sixth place. Loser Nova Ves keep the fourth position with 14 games lost. SKP Banska Bystrica will face Svit (#8) at home in the next round.
