There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Handlova (7-21) edged on the road 6th ranked Prievidza (11-17) 73-71 on Saturday. Prievidza was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Handlova made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Prievidza turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Handlova made 7 blocks. Prievidza was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Kevin Bridgewaters (179-84, college: Chattanooga) orchestrated the victory by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Swingman Michal Podhorsky (193-87) contributed with 7 points for the winners. The former international guard Milan Ziak (190-88) replied with 20 points and American center Justin Manns (210-89, college: Kent St.) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Prievidza. Four Prievidza players scored in double figures. Prievidza's coach Krunoslav Krajnovic tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help.
