Regular Season Round 21: Rapla - Valga 83-71

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Rapla's (11-11) home victory over 6th ranked Valga (10-14) 83-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rapla. Valga managed to win fourth quarter 21-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Valga's 26 and made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was point guard Rait-Riivo Laane (179-93) who scored 19 points and 6 assists. The former international forward Andre Parn (202-77) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Latvian guard Edgars Cunda (195-84) who recorded 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Latvian center Raitis Grafs (208-81, college: Valparaiso) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five Rapla and four Valga players scored in double figures. Rapla have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 11-11 record. Loser Valga keeps the sixth position with 14 games lost. Rapla will meet league's second-placed TU/Rock in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valga will play against KK Parnu (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
