There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Saitama Broncos (8-27) defeated on the road 9th ranked Osaka Evessa (10-25) 98-83 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 98-83. The best player for the winners was point guard Takuma Yamashiro (167-85) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 22 rebounds and 5 assists. American swingman John Humphrey (188-80, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: Court Side) chipped in 38 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Shun Watanuki (178-87) who recorded 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Michael Bell (206-82, college: Florida Atlantic) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Osaka Evessa's coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Saitama Broncos. They maintain eleventh place with 8-27 record. Loser Osaka Evessa keeps the ninth position with 25 games lost. Saitama Broncos will have a break next round.
