Second Stage Round 2: Solna Vikings - Northland 65-71

The most interesting game of round 2 was a home defeat of second-ranked Solna Vikings (3-2) to first ranked Northland (4-1) 71-65. It was a key game for the top position in Group 1. The guests trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 20-4 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Northland dominated on the defensive end, holding Solna Vikings to just 4 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Solna Vikings' 32. Guard Ellen Nystrom (180-93) scored 17 points, 5 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Anna Barthold (185-80, college: St.Peter's, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Northland players scored in double figures. Northland's coach Mikael Johansson used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Northland maintains first position in Group 1 with 4-1 record. Solna Vikings at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Norrkoping. Northland are looking forward to face league's second-placed Norrkoping Dolphins at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Solna Vikings will play against Telge and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
