There was a small surprise in Sao Paolo where seventh ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (16-11) beat 5th ranked Pinheiros (16-9) 82-77 on Thursday. Pinheiros was trailing by 12 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 25-15 charge of Sao Jose/Vinac, which allowed them to win the game. They made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sao Jose/Vinac made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Murilo Becker (210-83) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 8 rebounds.
