Regular Season Round 27: Paulistano - Mogi das Cruzes 67-77

There was an upset in Sao Paolo where higher ranked Paulistano (14-11) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Mogi (10-16) 77-67 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 20-8 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Mogi had a 35-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mogi made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for power forward Thomas Gehrke (203-82, college: UTEP) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. The former international center Babby Araujo (211-80, college: BYU) helped adding 11 points and 11 rebounds. Four Mogi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Pedro Lima (190-87) with 15 points and international guard Elinho Corazza (193-89, college: Miami Dade CC) scored 13 points and 5 assists. Paulistano's coach Gustavo Conti tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Mogi maintains thirteenth place with 10-16 record. Loser Paulistano keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Mogi will face higher ranked Pinheiros (#6) in Sao Paolo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
