Twelfth-ranked Winner/Limeira (11-15) gave a tough game to second ranked Brasilia (21-4) on Thursday. The visitors from Brasilia managed to secure only three-point victory 80-77. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Winner/Limeira won third quarter 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Brasilia dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Winner/Limeira's 18. It was a great evening for international forward Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. The former international point guard Welington Dos Santos (185-81) helped adding 16 points and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Helio Vitor Lima (184-81) with 23 points (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) and American guard Omar Carter (195-88, college: Appalachian St.) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Brasilia have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 21-4 record having six points less than leader Flamengo. Winner/Limeira at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Brasilia are looking forward to face Joinville (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Winner/Limeira will play against SKY/Basquete in Aldeota and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
