There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Tezenis VE (10-11) rolled over higher ranked C.de Latte BRE (12-8) in Verona 88-63 on Friday. The game without a history. Tezenis VE led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to C.de Latte BRE's 32 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Tezenis VE forced 19 C.de Latte BRE turnovers. Quite impressive performance for American point guard Richard McConnell (182-89, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: Priority Sports) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 5 assists. Nigerian-American power forward Olaseni Lawal (208-86, college: Wayne St., MI, agency: Pro One Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 20 rebounds for the winners. Lawal is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Tezenis VE players scored in double figures. American swingman J.R. Giddens (196-85, college: N.Mexico) replied with 19 points and 5 rebounds and the former international power forward David Brkic (210-82, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for C.de Latte BRE. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tezenis VE moved-up to eighth place. Loser C.de Latte BRE keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. Tezenis VE will face bottom-ranked Aget Service IM (#15) in Imola in the next round and are hoping to win another game. C.de Latte BRE will play on the road against FCM Ferentino (#12).
