The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Asteras' (7-13) road loss to seventh ranked Kronos AD (10-10) 45-81 on Saturday. The game without a history. Kronos AD led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Asteras to just 7 points in third quarter. Kronos AD dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Asteras' 24. Kronos AD forced 22 Asteras turnovers and outrebounded them 35-19 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by forward Maria Michou (182-83) who scored that evening 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and the former international power forward Nena Nikolaidou (190-79) supported her with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Four Kronos AD players scored in double figures. Coach Thanasis Orfanidis's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players saving starting five for next games. Even 14 points and 8 rebounds by forward Theodora Panteli (183-87, college: Binghamton) did not help to save the game for Asteras. Aspasia Kalampakou (178-93) added 11 points for the guests. Kronos AD maintains seventh position with 10-10 record. Loser Asteras keeps the eighth place with 13 games lost. Kronos AD will meet Olympiakos (#10) in the next round. Asteras' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Athinaikos.
