Eleventh-ranked HyPo (3-24) gave a tough game to fourth ranked HoNsU (16-11) in Hyvinkaa. The visitors from Jyvaskyla managed to secure only one-point victory 69-68. However their fans expected much easier game. HyPo was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 23-18 charge of HoNsU, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to HyPo's 36. Strangely HyPo outrebounded HoNsU 46-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. They brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. It was a good game for the former international forward Minna Sten (189-87) who saved her team from a defeat with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 9 blocks. Power forward Titta-Riina Lepisto (183-90) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. U.S. Virgin Islands-American swingman Natalie Day (182-90, college: Portland) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 17 rebounds and American forward Phebe Smith (183, college: Columbus St., agency: Gamble Sports Management) added 17 points and 15 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for HyPo. HoNsU maintains fourth place with 16-11 record, which they share with Honka. Newly promoted HyPo stay dead last with 24 lost games. HoNsU's next round opponent will be Aanekosken (#7) in Aanekoski. HyPo will play on the road against the league's second-placed Peli-Karhut (#2) in Kotka.
