Regular Season Round 29: Rotterdam - Groningen 77-95

Very expected game when 10th ranked Rotterdam (3-27) was defeated at home by third ranked Groningen (22-9) 95-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Rotterdam was better in third quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Rotterdam 50-28 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Groningen looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Guard Nate Rohnert (197-87, college: Denver) stepped up and scored 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds. Five Groningen players scored in double figures. Groningen's coach Ivica Skelin used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Anthony Miles (182-89, college: Lamar, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) responded with 29 points and 5 assists and power forward Cameron Echols (203-81, college: Ball St., agency: R.H.Consultancy) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. Groningen have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain third place with 22-9 record having just two points less than leader Den Bosch. Rotterdam lost eighth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 27 lost games. Groningen will have a break next round. Rotterdam will play on the road against M.Magixx (#7) in Nijmegen.
