Top ranked Toyota Alvark (29-9) recorded its ninth loss in Tokyo. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Toshiba Thunders (24-14) 74-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toyota Alvark. The guests were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 19-15 Toyota Alvark's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 74-67 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds. point guard Ryusei Shinoyama (178-88) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized American forward Ken Tanaka (188-81, college: Whittier) added 6 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Toyota Alvark. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toshiba Thunders maintains third place with 24-14 record having six points less than leader Aishin SH. Defending champion Toyota Alvark dropped to the second position with nine games lost. Toshiba Thunders will play against bottom-ranked Hokkaido L. (#8) in Saporro in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Toyota Alvark's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena Hitachi Sunrockers.
