Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Valmadrera (7-17) was edged on the road by sixth ranked Alghero (13-11) 63-62 on Saturday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Valmadrera was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 18-16 charge of Alghero, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for naturalized Argentinian forward Alejandra Chesta (187-82, agency: Players Group) who saved her team from a defeat with 24 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Marika Zanardi (175-81) contributed with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Swingman Morena Capiaghi (177-86) replied with 11 points and 8 rebounds and forward Carolina Scibelli (182-86) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Valmadrera. Alghero maintains sixth position in North with 13-11 record. Newly promoted Valmadrera dropped to the twelfth place with 17 games lost. Alghero will face league's leader Umana Reyer in Venezia in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Valmadrera will play at home against TEC-MAR Crema (#4).
