There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Gunma (9-30) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Miyazaki Shining Suns (6-33) 83-74 on Saturday. Gunma was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 28-18 charge of Miyazaki Shining Suns, which allowed them to win the game. Miyazaki Shining Suns had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Miyazaki Shining Suns made 7 blocks. American power forward Thomas Fairley (206-82, college: Lamar) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) chipped in 17 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. Four Miyazaki Shining Suns players scored in double figures. American forward Dominique Keller (203-88, college: Illinois) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import power forward Lewis Witcher (207-87, college: Virginia Tech) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Gunma's coach Ryan Blackwell let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Miyazaki Shining Suns maintains tenth place with 6-33 record.
