Regular Season Round 25: Fjolnir - KR 79-99

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Reykjavik: KR (#3) and Fjolnir (#8). Fjolnir was crushed at home by 20 points 79-99 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by KR. Fjolnir was better in third quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KR forced 19 Fjolnir turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American guard Shannon McCallum (177-87, college: Charlotte) nailed 25 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and the former international power forward Sigrun Amundadottir (181-88, agency: Promotex) accounted for 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four KR players scored in double figures. American guard Britney Jones (172-87, college: UAB) came up with 32 points and 4 assists and forward Heidrun Harpa Rikhardsdottir (173-92) added 20 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Fjolnir in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KR (16-8) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain third place having three points less than leader Keflavik. Fjolnir lost sixth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. KR will play against Njardvik (#6) at home in the next round. Fjolnir will play against Haukar in Hafnarfjordur and hopes to get back on the winning track.
