There was no surprise when 5th ranked Nova Ves (15-16) were defeated on the road by third ranked Nitra (20-11) 108-99 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 9 points. Nitra made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American swingman David Noel (199-84, college: N.Carolina) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import center Anthony McClain (213-88, college: Cincinnati) helped adding 18 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Serbian power forward Aco Mandic (204-84) responded with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American point guard Maurice Acker (178-87, college: Marquette) scored 23 points and 7 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Nitra have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Komarno. Nova Ves lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 16 games lost. They share it with B.Bystrica.
