Date: March 15, 2013
There was no surprise when 13th ranked Arras (6-17) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Aix-en-Provence (11-12) 81-66. The game was mostly controlled by Aix-en-Provence. Arras was better in fourth quarter 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for Australian center Marianna Tolo (196-89) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Sylvie Gruszczynski (172-86) accounted for 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. American point guard Dawn Evans (170-89, college: JMU, agency: LBM Management) came up with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and DR Congolese power forward Pauline Akonga Nsimbo (188-82, agency: LBM Management) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Arras in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Arras' coach Marc Silvert tested ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Aix-en-Provence. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Nantes. Arras at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. Aix-en-Provence's next round opponent will be higher ranked Tarbes (#4) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Arras will play against Charleville-Mezieres (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
