Regular Season Round 27: Maurienne - Fos Ouest 80-69

There was a small surprise in Aix-les-Bains where tenth ranked Aix-Maurienne (14-13) beat 8th ranked Fos Ouest (15-12) 80-69 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back winning next two quarters and won the game by 11 points. Aix-Maurienne outrebounded Fos Ouest 41-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Fos Ouest was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American Wilbert Brown (200-84, college: Niagara, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Erroyl Bing (198-82, college: E.Carolina) chipped in 9 points and 16 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Moroccan-Canadian Mohamed Hachad (194-83, college: Northwestern) who recorded 17 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and American power forward John Williamson (199-86, college: Cincinnati) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Four Fos Ouest players scored in double figures. Aix-Maurienne maintains tenth place with 14-13 record. Fos Ouest lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with 12 games lost. Aix-Maurienne will face higher ranked Olympique Antibes (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
