Regular Season Round 23: Perpignan - Lyon 54-64

The game between third ranked Perpignan (14-9) and fifth ranked Lyon (13-10) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Perpignan was defeated by Lyon in Perpignan 64-54. The game was mostly controlled by Lyon. Perpignan managed to win fourth quarter 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Lyon outrebounded Perpignan 45-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Danielle Page (188-86, college: Nebraska) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Croatian center Emilija Podrug (190-79) chipped in 8 points and 11 rebounds. The former international forward Diandra Tchatchouang (186-91, college: Maryland) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and Australian center Abby Bishop (189-88) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Perpignan players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lyon moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Tarbes. Newly promoted Perpignan keeps the third position with nine games lost. Lyon is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Union Hainaut (#14) in Saint-Amand in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Perpignan will play on the road against Basket Landes (#6) in Mont de Marsan and is hoping to win this game.
