Regular Season Round 20: KAOD - Peristeri GS 87-75

Everything could happen in Dramas at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked KAOD and 13th ranked Peristeri GS had identical 5-14 record. This time KAOD used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Athens 87-75 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by KAOD. Peristeri GS was better in third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. KAOD forced 22 Peristeri GS turnovers. The best player for the winners was American swingman Kevin Palmer (198-87, college: Texas A&M-CC) who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). The other American import guard Preston Knowles (185-89, college: Louisville) chipped in 14 points. Four KAOD players scored in double figures. American forward Jonathan Mitchell (200-87, college: Rutgers) produced 20 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Nontas Papantoniou (190-90) added 12 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. KAOD (6-14) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Ilysiakos and Kolossos. Peristeri GS lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with 15 games lost. KAOD will face Kavala (#12) on the road in the next round. Peristeri GS's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panathinaikos.
