The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Thessaloniki: PAOK (#4) and Aris (#6). PAOK (16-4) won against visiting Aris (9-11) 84-72. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 12 points. It was a great shooting night for PAOK especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. 24 personal fouls committed by Aris helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was point guard Kostas Haralampidis (189-76) who scored 31 points (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!). American point guard Wiliam Hatcher (188-84, college: Miami, OH) chipped in 24 points and 7 rebounds. The former international forward Michalis Pelekanos (198-81, agency: FCM) produced 17 points and 4 assists and Eleftherios Bochoridis (196-94) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Aris' coach Vangelis Agelou rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. PAOK have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Panionios. Aris at the other side keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Ikaros and Apollon Patras. PAOK is looking forward to face AGOR (#5) in Rethymno in the next round. Aris will play at home against the league's leader Olympiacos in Athens and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
