Regular Season Round 20: Ikaros - Kavala 76-73

Eleventh-ranked Kavala (5-15) made lots of trouble for eighth ranked Ikaros (9-11) in Kalitheas. Ikaros managed to secure only three-point victory 76-73. However their fans expected easier game. Kavala was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. The winners were led by Senegalese forward Mouhammad Faye (208-85, college: SMU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and Croatian guard Zoran Vrkic (200-87) supported him with 17 points. Five Ikaros players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) by American forward William Coleman (206-88, college: Memphis) did not help to save the game for Kavala. point guard Christoforos Stefanidis (184-80) added 12 points and 6 assists for the guests. Kavala's coach Angelos Koronios let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Ikaros have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Aris and Apollon Patras. Kavala lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Ikaros' next round opponent will be Kolossos (#9) in Rodou. Kavala will play at home against KAOD in Dramas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
