Rather expected game when 10th ranked Cafes Aitona (6-13) lost to eighth ranked Castello (8-11) in Castellon 59-72 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Castello's pressure prevailed and they won that period 22-12 extending their advantage to 13 points. Power forward David Ortega (199-84) nailed 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and guard Jose Maria Garcia (193-87) accounted for 16 points. Castello's coach Toni Ten used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. point guard Inigo Del Valle (188-87) came up with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Aritz Martinez (201-82) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Cafes Aitona in the defeat. Newly promoted Castello maintains eighth place with 8-11 record. Cafes Aitona at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Avila. Castello will meet bottom-ranked La Palma (#11) on the road in the next round. Cafes Aitona will play against CB Guadalajara and hope to secure a win.
