Regular Season Round 21: Panionios - GAC Eunikos 44-65

GAC Eunikos has finally registered their first victory this season after 20 consecutive loses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Athens, where they outplayed Panionios (2-19) 65-44 on Saturday. The game without a history. GAC Eunikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Panionios to just 7 points in second quarter. GAC Eunikos dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Panionios' 20. GAC Eunikos forced 27 Panionios turnovers and outrebounded them 48-27 including a 24-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Nikolina Ioannidou (175-94) who scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Eleni Solomou (184-89) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. GAC Eunikos' coach Dorita Deve felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Gramatikopoulou who recorded 7 points and 13 rebounds and swingman Athina Iliadi (177-96) added 13 points respectively. GAC Eunikos maintains twelfth place with 1-20 record. It was Panionios' eighth loss in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 19 games lost. GAC Eunikos will meet at home higher ranked Ikaros Kalitheas (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panionios will play against Kronos AD (#7) and hope to secure a win.
