The game in Kyoto was also quite interesting. 5th ranked Akita Happinets (21-19) played at the court of sixth ranked Kyoto Hannar. (21-19). Kyoto Hannar. managed to secure a 8-point victory 92-84 on Sunday. Kyoto Hannar. dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Akita Happinets' 36. They outrebounded Akita Happinets 39-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. Kyoto Hannar. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by American center Marcus Cousin (211-86, college: Houston) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds and the other American import forward David Palmer (201-82, college: S.Utah, agency: Top Notch Sports) supported him with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Kyoto Hannar.'s coach Honoo Hamaguchi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 23 points by American guard Dion Harris (190-85, college: Michigan) did not help to save the game for Akita Happinets. The former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) added 17 points and 7 assists for the guests. Five Kyoto Hannar. and four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Kyoto Hannar. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Akita NH. Kyoto Hannar. will meet Shinshu BW (#9) in the next round. Akita Happinets will play against Miyazaki Shining Suns (#10) and hope to secure a win.
