Winner League top team - Maccabi T-A (18-3) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Maccabi Ashdod (9-12) 90-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Maccabi Ashdod. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi T-A. Maccabi Ashdod managed to win fourth quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Maccabi Ashdod 42-22 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American center Shawn James (207-83, college: Northeastern, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) stepped up and scored 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and international Lior Eliyahu (206-85, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) chipped in 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American forward Diamon Simpson (201-87, college: St.Mary's, CA) with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks and the other American import guard Mardy Collins (198-84, college: Temple) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 18-3 record. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Galil Gilboa and Hapoel T-A. Maccabi T-A are looking forward to face Bnei Hasharon (#10) in Hod Hasharon in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Ashdod will play on the road against Hapoel Tel-Aviv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
