An interesting game took place in Caserta where 4th placed Montepaschi Siena (14-9) was upset on the court of tenth ranked Juvecaserta (10-13) 72-64 on Sunday. Montepaschi Siena was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 28-16 charge of Juvecaserta, which allowed them to win the game. They made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Juvecaserta forced 22 Montepaschi Siena turnovers. The best player for the winners was Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St.) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. The former international point guard Daniel Hackett (200-87, college: USC, agency: Two Points) produced 10 points and 5 rebounds and Georgian Viktor Sanikidze (203-86) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Montepaschi Siena's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Juvecaserta moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Enel Brindisi. Montepaschi Siena lost third consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with EA7 Armani. Juvecaserta will meet at home VL Pesaro (#15) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Montepaschi Siena will play against Cantu (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
