BJ League top team - Okinawa GK (31-9) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Chiba Jets (20-20) 89-59. The game was mostly controlled by Okinawa GK. Chiba Jets managed to win second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Okinawa GK dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Chiba Jets' 36. They outrebounded Chiba Jets 43-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Okinawa GK looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Narito Namizato (172-89) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. American center Jeff Newton (205-81, college: Indiana) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Okinawa GK players scored in double figures. American center Joe Werner (201-84, college: Wisc.-La Cros.) replied with 8 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Marquin Chandler (202-82, college: San Jose St.) added 7 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Chiba Jets. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Okinawa GK have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 31-9 record. Chiba Jets at the other side keep the sixth place with 20 games lost. Okinawa GK are looking forward to face Saitama Broncos (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
