Regular Season Round 44: Toyama Grouses - Tokyo Cinq R. 105-78

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (16-25) was outleveled on the road by fourth ranked Toyama Grouses (26-14) 105-78 on Sunday. The game without a history. Toyama Grouses led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The winners were led by Puerto Rican power forward Angel Garcia (209-88, college: Memphis) who scored that evening 29 points and 8 rebounds and Masashi Joho (183-82) supported him with 28 points. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. Toyama Grouses' coach Bob Nash felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds by American swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) did not help to save the game for Tokyo Cinq R.. His fellow American import center Jonathan Jones (211-79, agency: TSS Management) added 17 points and 11 rebounds for the guests. Toyama Grouses moved-up to third place, which they share with Iwate Big Bulls. Loser Tokyo Cinq R. keeps the eighth position with 25 games lost. Toyama Grouses will meet league's second-placed Shimane Magic on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tokyo Cinq R. will play against the league's second-placed Yokohama BC (#2) and hope to secure a win.
