Regular Season Round 44: Yokohama BC - Hamamatsu P. 81-67
Date: March 19, 2013
Rather expected game when 5th ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (24-18) lost on the road to second ranked Yokohama BC (28-12) 81-67 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-67. Yokohama BC outrebounded Hamamatsu Phoenix 45-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. American players dominated the game. The winners were led by guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul, agency: Top Notch Sports) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Global Sports Plaza) supported him with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Four Yokohama BC players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 6 rebounds by forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic, agency: Top Notch Sports) did not help to save the game for Hamamatsu Phoenix. Center Elbert Fuqua (211-83, college: UTSA, agency: Top Notch Sports) added 11 points for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Yokohama BC keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Niigata Albirex. Loser Hamamatsu Phoenix keeps the fifth place with 18 games lost. Yokohama BC will meet Tokyo Cinq R. (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hamamatsu Phoenix will play against Shiga L-Stars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
