Regular Season Round 22: Ironi Nahariya - Hapoel Kazrin 92-88
Date: March 19, 2013
Very expected game when 8th ranked Hapoel Kazrin (10-12) lost on the road to second ranked Ironi Nahariya (18-4) 92-88 on Tuesday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Hapoel Kazrin was trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 20-15 charge of Ironi Nahariya, which allowed them to win the game. Ironi Nahariya outrebounded Hapoel Kazrin 51-27 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Nate Miller (193-87, college: Bowling Green, agency: KMG Sports Management) notched 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Raviv Pitshon (202-89) supported him with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Five Ironi Nahariya players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 8 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by guard Avishay Gordon (191-77) did not help to save the game for Hapoel Kazrin. American guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) added 16 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for lost side. Hapoel Kazrin's coach Ziv Bartana rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ironi Nahariya have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-4 record behind leader Ironi Nes-Ziona. Hapoel Kazrin lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. Ironi Nahariya will meet Elitzur Ramla (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hapoel Kazrin will play against Maccabi K/G in Kiryat Gat and hope to secure a win.
