Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Athinaikos (#2) and Olympiakos (#10). Athinaikos (19-3) smashed visiting Olympiakos (6-16) by 37 points 89-52. The game without a history. Athinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Olympiakos' 36. Athinaikos forced 20 Olympiakos turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Athinaikos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Olympiakos' players. Point guard Zoi Kechagia (170-79) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Lolita Lymoura (180-85, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 11 points and 7 assists during the contest. Athinaikos' coach Giorgos Leivadis felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international forward Niki Zerva (184-79) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and guard Dimitra Chavale (175-78) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Athinaikos have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 19-3 record having just two points less than leader Panathinaikos. Newly promoted Olympiakos keeps the tenth place with 16 games lost.
