Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Shinshu BW (16-27) lost to sixth ranked Kyoto Hannar. (22-19) in Nagano 65-78 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-65. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for guard Masaharu Kataoka (190-85) who led his team to a victory with 25 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Center Marcus Cousin (211-86, college: Houston) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Kyoto Hannar. players scored in double figures. Kyoto Hannar.'s coach Honoo Hamaguchi used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Michael Fey (213-83, college: UCLA) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Shinshu BW. Kyoto Hannar. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Akita NH. Shinshu BW lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 27 games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will have a break next round. Shinshu BW will play again at home against Kyoto Hannar. (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
