There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Oita Heat Devils (16-28) edged on the road higher ranked Iwate Big Bulls (26-16) 83-80 on Sunday. Iwate Big Bulls were trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 18-13 charge of Oita Heat Devils, which allowed them to win the game. American center Thomas Granado (208-88, college: Concordia Irvine) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Taishiro Shimizu (183-81) chipped in 19 points and 7 assists during the contest. Four Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center Dillion Sneed (203-84, college: E.Tenn.St., agency: Top Notch Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Carlos Dixon (201-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Top Notch Sports) scored 23 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!). Oita Heat Devils have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Shinshu BW. Iwate Big Bulls lost third consecutive game.
