The game in Siena was also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Cantu (15-9) played at the court of fifth ranked Montepaschi Siena (15-9). Montepaschi Siena managed to secure a 7-point victory 73-66 on Monday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cantu. Cantu trailed by 23 points after 3 quarters before a 25-9 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 66-73 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: CS Fullerton) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 4 assists and Austrian power forward Benjamin Ortner (206-83, college: Metro St.) who added 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Maarten Leunen (206-85, college: Oregon) with 17 points and his fellow American import forward Jeff Brooks (203-89, college: Penn St.) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Cantu. Montepaschi Siena will meet Air Avellino (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cantu will play against Juvecaserta (#11) in Caserta and hope to secure a win.
