Regular Season Round 24: Cholet - Nancy 68-67
Date: March 25, 2013
A very interesting game took place in Cholet. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 14th ranked Sluc Nancy (8-16) to twelfth ranked Cholet (11-13) 68-67 on Monday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sluc Nancy won third quarter 21-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Sluc Nancy outrebounded Cholet 39-27 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American point guard A.J. Slaughter (191-87, college: W.Kentucky) who scored that evening 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Aubrey Coleman (193-87, college: Houston) supported him with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Even 25 points and 6 rebounds by American forward Marcellus Sommerville (200-82, college: Bradley) did not help to save the game for Sluc Nancy. Naturalized Ivorian forward Herve Toure (202-82) added 16 points and 12 rebounds. Four Sluc Nancy players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Cholet moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Le Havre. Sluc Nancy at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Cholet's next round opponent will be higher ranked Chorale de Roanne (#5) on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sluc Nancy will play against Chalon/Saor (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
