Regular Season Round 23: Elitzur Yavne - Ironi Ramat Gan 69-67

The most exciting game of round 23 in the National League took place in Yavne. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Ironi Ramat Gan (14-9) to sixth ranked Elitzur Yavne (15-8) 69-67 in the game for the fourth place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ironi Ramat Gan. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-14. But Ironi Ramat Gan won second period 19-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Elitzur Yavne won last quarter 15-15. It was a great evening for swingman Elad Hofman (192-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. American forward Monta McGhee (198-79, college: Lewis, agency: I.D.S. Law) helped adding 9 points and 12 rebounds. Four Elitzur Yavne players scored in double figures. American swingman Tyrone Kent (196-86, college: Toledo) responded with 21 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Amit Tamir (208-79, college: California) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Elitzur Yavne moved-up to fourth place. Ironi Ramat Gan at the other side keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Hapoel Afula. Elitzur Yavne are looking forward to face Beer Yaakov (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ironi Ramat Gan will play against Hapoel Kazrin (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
