Regular Season Round 29: Le Portel - St Vallier 103-75
Date: March 29, 2013
There was no surprise when 16th ranked Saint Vallier (9-20) was outplayed on the road by fourth ranked Le Portel (19-10) 103-75. It looked good early as Saint Vallier took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Le Portel had a 28-20 second period charge getting the lead and Saint Vallier was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-103. Le Portel made 28-of-35 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American forward Darnell Wilson (198-85, college: Canisius, agency: Court Side) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 4 assists. Jamaican-American Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary) contributed with 24 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. American Corey Rouse (204-84, college: E.Carolina, agency: Court Side) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds and American-Ivorian guard Errick Craven (188-83, college: USC) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Saint Vallier. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Le Portel moved-up to third place, which they share with Chalons-Reims. Saint Vallier lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 20 games lost. Le Portel's next round opponent will be SO Maritime Boulogne (#5) on the road. Saint Vallier will play against Lille Metropole (#11).
