The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Pau-Lacq-Orthez smashed 3rd placed Chalons-Reims at home 75-55. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Chalons-Reims. It looked good early as Chalons-Reims took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Pau-Lacq-Orthez had a 24-9 second period charge getting the lead and Chalons-Reims was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 55-75. Four Pau-Lacq-Orthez players scored in double figures. American forward Tyren Johnson (202-88, college: La-Lafayette) came up with 22 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Kevin Corre (202-85) added 6 points respectively for Chalons-Reims in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Chalons-Reims at the other side keeps the third place with ten games lost. They share the position with Le Portel. Chalons-Reims will play next round against Aix-Maurienne trying to get back on the winning streak. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Olympique Antibes on the road.
