No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Oita Heat Devils (17-28) edged on the road 10th ranked Saitama Broncos (11-32) 102-101 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-20. But Saitama Broncos won second period 26-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Oita Heat Devils looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Saitama Broncos' players. The best player for the winners was guard Taishiro Shimizu (183-81) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists. Guard Satoru Umemiya (182-80) chipped in 28 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American swingman John Humphrey (188-80, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: Court Side) produced a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and the other American import forward Dameion Baker (192-78, college: Mount Olive) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. Saitama Broncos' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Oita Heat Devils. They maintain eighth place with 17-28 record. Saitama Broncos lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 32 games lost. Oita Heat Devils will have a break next round. Saitama Broncos will play again at home against Oita Heat Devils (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
