Very important is a home loss of third ranked Anwil (17-10) against fifth ranked Asseco Prok. (17-10) on Saturday night. Host Anwil was defeated by Asseco Prok. in Wloclawek 84-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Anwil. It looked good early as Anwil took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Asseco Prok. had a 19-12 second period charge getting the lead and Anwil was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-84. Anwil was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Austrian-Slovenian center Rasid Mahalbasic (211-90) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and the former international forward Robert Witka (205-81) accounted for 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (182-84) came up with 19 points and 4 assists and Serbian power forward Nikola Jovanovic (203-81, agency: BeoExcell) added 13 points respectively for Anwil in the defeat. Anwil's coach Milija Bogicevic tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Defending champion moved-up to third place in Places 1-6, which they share with Anwil and Trefl Sopot. Asseco Prok. will play against Energa Czarni (#6) in Slupsk in the next round. Anwil will play at home against the league's second-placed Stelmet ZG in Zielona Gora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
