There was a surprise result when seventeenth ranked Lagun Aro GBC (8-19) won against higher ranked CB Canarias (11-16) in San Sebastian 89-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Lagun Aro GBC. CB Canarias was better in fourth quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lagun Aro GBC made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American swingman Qyntel Woods (203-81, college: N.Mississippi JC) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Nigerian-American forward Ekenechukwu Ibekwe (210-85, college: Maryland) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American forward Levi Rost (201-83, college: W.Michigan) answered with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Greek forward Fotios Lampropoulos (206-83) added 15 points in the effort for CB Canarias. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Lagun Aro GBC maintains seventeenth place with 8-19 record. Newly promoted CB Canarias keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Lagun Aro GBC will face higher ranked CAI Zaragoza (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
