Regular Season Round 48: Shinshu BW - Takamatsu FA 85-92

There was a small surprise in Nagano where ninth ranked Takamatsu FA (18-28) defeated 9th ranked Shinshu BW (16-30) 92-85 on Sunday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Takamatsu FA made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Shinshu BW outrebounded Takamatsu FA 46-31 including a 26-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Shinshu BW was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was swingman Dexter Lyons (198-81, college: Cent.Florida, agency: I.D.S. Law) who scored 30 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Takamatsu FA's coach Kenzo Maeda used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Michael Fey (213-83, college: UCLA) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds and power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) added 19 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Four Takamatsu FA and five Shinshu BW players scored in double figures. Takamatsu FA moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Oita H.Devils. Shinshu BW lost eleventh consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 30 games lost. Takamatsu FA will face league's second-placed Yokohama BC at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
