There was no surprise when 8th ranked Hapoel Kazrin (11-13) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Ironi Ramat Gan (15-9) 95-73 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Ironi Ramat Gan. Hapoel Kazrin was better in second period 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ironi Ramat Gan had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American swingman Tyrone Kent (196-86, college: Toledo) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international power forward Amit Tamir (208-79, college: California) chipped in 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Kent is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Ironi Ramat Gan players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) who recorded 31 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Ramon Dyer (201-84, college: Houston) added 10 points and 15 rebounds respectively. Hapoel Kazrin's coach Ziv Bartana already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Ironi Ramat Gan moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Elitzur Yavne and Hapoel Afula. Newly promoted Hapoel Kazrin keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Ironi Ramat Gan will face Elitzur Ramla (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Hapoel Kazrin will play against Beer Yaakov and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
