Regular Season Round 1: Nogales - Cananea 75-80

Hosts were defeated by Mineros de Cananea (1-0) 80-75. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Fuerza Guinda Nogales won third quarter 14-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Mineros de Cananea won last quarter 20-16. American forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry, agency: Prossin Sports Management) fired 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. His fellow American import guard Todd Brown (196-87, college: Wright St., agency: Pro One Sports) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. Monroe is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Bahamas power forward Ryan Moss (200-74, college: UALR) produced 18 points and 9 rebounds and forward Jorge Mercado (200-80) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Fuerza Guinda Nogales players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
