Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Tarbes (15-10) smashed at home 8th ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (11-14) 98-72 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Tarbes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Tarbes outrebounded Villeneuve D'Ascq 37-24 including 16 on the offensive glass. American forward Angelica Robinson (197-87, college: Georgia) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international guard Paoline Salagnac (176-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 19 points and 7 assists. Tarbes' coach Cyril Sicsic felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Nigerian center Olayinka Sanni (188-86, college: W.Virginia, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Bintou Dieme (164-84) scored 15 points. Five Villeneuve D'Ascq players scored in double figures. Tarbes have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Perpignan and Lyon. Loser Villeneuve D'Ascq keeps the eighth position with 14 games lost. Tarbes will face Lyon (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play against Arras (#13).
